Murders continued to spiral yesterday following the stabbing death of businessman Keith Sylvester.
The incident occurred at De Verteuil Street, Woodbrook, around 10.30 am.
It was reported that Sylvester, the owner of De Boss Ah Soup on Tragarete Road, was at a private residence and shortly after, he got into an argument with another man.
It is alleged the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed Sylvester several times, before escaping on foot.
When Guardian Media visited the scene, the access gates to the property were locked. However, the front door leading into the house was open and the pool of blood was clearly visible from the roadway. Blood spatter could also be seen on one of the freezers that stood in the living room.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident on Sunday afternoon, Duane Alexander, 41, of Arneaud Avenue, Morvant, was gunned down.
Reports indicate that around 3.55 pm, the deceased was liming with several people at Arneaud Avenue and Ramier Street, Morvant, when a black SUV stopped and three gunmen got out and opened fire on the group.
As the crowd scampered to safety, Alexander was allegedly pursued and shot several times. His body was later found on the ground outside a shop, close to where the group had been liming.
These latest murders pushed the toll to 81 for the year so far, compared to 70 for the same period last year.
