A Siparia woman and her eight-year-old daughter perished in a house fire, early this morning.
Guardian Media understands it was around 5:15 am that Kemba Morris, 43, realised that her home at Quinam Road was on fire.
She raised an alarm and grabbed on to her daughter Zaya. Her two older children and sister got out safely.
When the fire fighters extinguished the blaze, the charred bodies of Morris and her daughter were found huddled together mere feet away from the back door. Morris' two other children, one of whom is asthmatic, were taken to the health facility to be examined.
Officers of South-Western Division were on the scene.
Investigations are continuing.
