After joy came sorrow for relatives of Sterling Riley who are now planning his funeral days after celebrating with him at a family wedding.
Riley’s sister Sarahjane Hutchinson and cousin Stacey Roberts said they were all together at a relative’s wedding on Friday.
Around 7 pm on Tuesday Riley, of Jordan Street, Chaguanas, was declared dead at the Chaguanas Health Facility after he shot at Lendore Village, Enterprise. He was dropped off at the facility by a motorist who left without providing any information to the medical staff.
The 36-year-old construction worker was the father of an eight-year-old girl.
“He was he was very loving, peaceful and humble, so that is why we are amazed to hear that somebody would shoot him,” Hutchinson said.
Relatives said Riley lived for his daughter and she is devastated by his killing.
Riley’s murder was one of two on Tuesday night that pushed the murder count to 124.
In the other incident, Mathew “MK” Khan, owner of MK Promotions & Auto Spa, was found murdered at Waterwheel Road around 11 pm.
A close friend said his murder was a shock to the family. He said the 49-year-old businessman was jovial and charitable.
Police have not yet determined the motives for the killings.
