A 30-year-old man from Morvant was murdered near his home on Saturday evening.
Around 6.30 pm, residents of Bottle Alley Road, off the Lady Young Road in Morvant, reported hearing a volley of gunshots. When officers arrived in the community, the victim had already been taken to hospital by a resident and they found six spent 9 mm shell casings on the scene.
They later learned that the victim, who was identified as Brad Lindow, of Almond Drive, Morvant, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital.
Residents told police Lindow was dropped off in the community and was seen walking behind a shop, shortly before they heard the gunshots. A post-mortem is expected to be performed at the Forensic Science Centre in St James, this morning.
Investigators from the Region Two Homicide Bureau had not established a motive for Lindow’s murder, up to late yesterday.
Accused sex predator gets bail
A 40-year-old man who allegedly performed several sex acts on his stepdaughter over a six-year period has been granted bail.
The Marabella man was granted $250,000 approval bail and alternatively a $12,000 cash bail during a virtual court appearance on Friday.
Senior San Fernando Magistrate Indrani Cedeno warned the accused not to have contact with the victim who is now 20 years old.
The sex acts were allegedly committed between 2013 and 2019.
The man was arrested last Wednesday and charged by WPC Nicole St John with two counts of sexual penetration, sexual touching, indecent assault and grievous sexual assault. He was represented by attorney Annalee Girwar.
The matter was adjourned to December 17.
Man caught breaking into warehouse
Quick work by San Fernando detectives resulted in the arrest of a man who was allegedly caught stealing from a warehouse on Saturday morning.
Kevin Ali Atwell, 37, of no fixed place of abode, was arrested and charged.
At 1.30 am on Saturday, a police cruiser was alerted to a man breaking into a warehouse along Chacon Street, San Fernando. When police officers arrived at the location, they observed the door of the building pried opened and with lights on. Upon checking, police officers discovered a man inside of the building who had no permission to be there.
He was immediately arrested and charged by PC George for warehouse break-in with intent.
Atwell will answer to the charge when the matter comes up for hearing today at the San Fernando Magistrates’ Court.
Man charged for chopping
goat, threatening neighbour
A 25-year-old Moruga man will appear before a Princes Town Magistrate today charged with goat maiming and assault by threats.
Kendall Khan, of La Lune Village, Moruga, was arrested and charged on Saturday by officers of the Moruga Police Station. The charges arose out of an incident in which the accused allegedly chopped his neighbour’s goat several times.
A report was subsequently made to the police who immediately launched an investigation in which detectives discovered that the accused reportedly had an argument with his neighbour at 9.10 pm over the man’s goat eating his crops.
The victim told police that the accused left and returned armed with a cutlass and proceeded to chop the goat and allegedly made threats to him.
The suspect was later charged by PC Huggins for the offences and will answer when the matter comes up for hearing today at the Princes Town Magistrates’ Court.
