A 40-year-old man who allegedly tried to kill his ex-wife and her parents at their Palo Seco home on Sunday has been denied bail.
Evans Cornwall, of Gonzales Village, Guapo, appeared yesterday in the Siparia Magistrates’ Court charged with three counts of wounding with intent to kill.
The charges stemmed from an incident in which his ex-common-law wife Lizann Forrester, 30, her parents Leslie, 57, and Jennifer Forrester, 55, were chopped at their home around 7.30 am on May 5.
They suffered multiple wounds. The father’s hand was almost severed at the wrist.
Cornwall, who does sandblasting and spray painting for a living, was arrested shortly after the incident.
He was subsequently charged by Cpl Ramlal. The charges were read to him by Magistrate Ava Vandenberg-Bailey.
Cornwall was represented by attorney Vishan Girwar.
Court prosecutor Sgt Sheldon Salazar objected to bail because the victims are still warded in a critical condition at the San Fernando General Hospital.
The magistrate advised Cornwall of his right to apply to a judge in chambers for bail and remanded him into custody.
The matter was adjourned to June 4.
