One man has been arrested, a shotgun and a quantity of marijuana seized, and a stolen vehicle recovered following exercises in the South Western and North Eastern Divisions on Saturday.
Officers of the North Eastern Division Task Force and Canine Unit conducted an anti-crime exercise targeting known drug blocks in
Romain Lands, Morvant, and Williams Street, San Juan. Based on the information received, they proceeded to a bushy open area in
Romain Lands, Morvant.
A search was conducted, and a black shotgun was allegedly found by PC Bibby. The officers then proceeded to Williams Street, San Juan, near Calcutta Street where during a search of the area, PC Borneo and
K9 Nero allegedly found two separate bundles of marijuana wrapped in clear plastic wrap totalling 212 grammes.
Enquiries into both finds are being conducted by PC Bibby.
The exercise, which was conducted between the hours of 7 pm and 10 pm on Friday, April 5, was spearheaded by ACP Subero, Snr Supt (Ag.) Edwards, Supt (Ag.) Ghool, ASP (Ag.) Callender, and Insp (Ag.) Ramsingh. It was coordinated by Sgt Martin and supervised by Cpl Lavia and W/Cpl (Ag.) Guy-King.
A 38-year-old man was arrested for Possession of Marijuana during an anti-crime exercise conducted between the hours of 4 pm and 8 pm in the South Western Division. Officers allegedly found 198 grammes of marijuana during the execution of a search warrant at a residence at Guapo Main Road, Fyzabad. PC Seepersadsingh is continuing enquiries.
Meanwhile, officers of the Santa Cruz Criminal Investigations Department and charge room recovered a stolen vehicle.
The vehicle, a silver Toyota Aqua had been reported stolen from a home in Chaguanas on Saturday.
