A police sergeant is now assisting senior officers with their investigations, following the shooting of a 29-year-old female police officer.
The woman was shot at her home on Tuesday night, in what police believe was a domestic dispute. The incident took place in Barrackpore.
According to reports, at about 10:30 pm on Tuesday, the injured officer arrived home after attending a function.
Police said they were told an argument broke out over a text message, during which shots were fired.
The woman was shot in the upper left of her chest.
She was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital where she remains in a stable condition.
Police have seized two guns and 69 rounds of ammunition.
