An unidentified man was murdered at Righteous Lane in Arima on Tuesday morning when went to the area to purchase a vehicle but instead was confronted by a group of armed men, who robbed him.
Another man who also came with the victim was shot and injured.
Police said sometime after 11 am residents heard gunshots and upon checking saw a man slumped inside a car parked at the side of the road.
Another man was seen close by on the ground bleeding from gunshot wounds.
The police were called in and officers from the Arima police station and the Homicide Bureau responded.
The injured man was taken to the Arima Hospital for treatment.
Police officers have not released the name of the murdered man or that of the man who was injured.
Police said initial investigations revealed that the victim and another man, both from Princes Town, went to the area to purchase a vehicle for $15,000.
However, they were confronted by a group of armed men who robbed them of the money instead and shot at the car before fleeing the scene.
