Jaleel Ashton, 26, of Long Circular Road, St James was arrested and charged by officers of the Western Division for several robberies and kidnapping.
Ashton was captured by police after an operation was conducted following several reports from female victims. According to police reports, the women stated they were taken to Fort George Hill or other deserted areas by the suspect, purporting himself to be a PH taxi driver in a silver Nissan Note – registration PDR 4017.
The suspect would then assault and rob his victims. The officers, observing a pattern in the suspect’s activities, coordinated an operation between 6 pm and 11 pm on November 25th 2020. The vehicle was intercepted at the traffic lights on Western Main Road and Columbus Circular, Westmoorings. Several identification parades were conducted where the suspect was reportedly identified by three persons.
Mr Ashton faces the following charges, two counts of robbery with violence, one count of robbery with aggravation, three counts of kidnapping, one count of assault occasioning a wound and malicious damage.
