Two men were denied bail, while a third was granted $150,000 bail when they appeared in court on several sexual offences charges.
According to police reports, the three men were charged by officers of the Child Protection Unit, Southern Division, after two minors reported that as far back as 2016, they had been subjected to acts of sexual abuse.
The exercise was spearheaded by W/Supt (Ag) George, ASP (Ag) Sookdeo, and supervised by W/Insp (Ag) Francis. Enquires were conducted by W/Sgt Roland and WPC Woods.
The minors informed the officers, that they had been subjected to acts of sexual abuse by relatives.
When the accused men appeared at the Princes Town Magistrates’ Court, one of the men was charged with one count of serious indecency and given bail with surety in the sum of $150,000.00.
He was ordered to remain 500 feet from the victim at all times and to report to Princes Town Police Station on Mondays and Fridays between 6 am and 6 pm.
Another accused was charged with three counts of sexual penetration of a child, and two counts of sexual touching of a child.
He was denied bail. The third accused was charged with three counts of sexual penetration of a child and three counts of grievous sexual assault. He was also denied bail.
The cases were adjourned to September 8th.
