Investigators have not yet ascertained the motive behind the killing of Venezuelan national Antonio Jose Zabala Milano on Thursday evening.
Milano, 34, a salesman was shot several times by a gunman seconds after confirming his identity to an unknown caller on a cellphone which was handed to him by the killer.
The victim, who lived with his common-law wife at an apartment complex at River Branch Road, Kelly Village, Caroni, was killed whilst standing in the downstairs area.
Reports indicate the victim was approached by the gunman, who was talking on a cellphone, at 3.40 pm.
It was alleged that the gunman slid open the unlocked gate and walked in before handing the phone to Milano, who was heard confirming, “This is Antonio”.
Seconds after, several gunshots were heard and the unmasked gunman was seen running away.
Evidence collected at the scene included four 9 mm spent shell casings as well as two live 9 mm rounds.
