Police arrested two Venezuelan nationals with $33,450 and US$41 following a report of a vehicle seen transporting illegal firearms and ammunition out of Point Fortin.
A police report stated that around 12.30 pm Friday, Cpl Seecharan, Constables Loubon, Laptiste and WPC Downing went to Dow Village, South Oropouche, where on reaching near SM Jaleel & Co Ltd, they saw the suspected vehicle travelling along the Southern Main Road.
The officers stopped the vehicle and saw two Venezuelan nationals occupying the driver and front passenger’s seats.
One of the suspects resides at Point Fortin, while the other lives along Morne Coco Road, Petit Valley. The officers searched one of the suspects and found the money.
