David Dorn, an African American police officer in the city of St Louis, USA, was murdered this week by a mob. Four other active duty officers were shot. In Las Vegas, an officer took a bullet to his head.
Once the sun went down cops all around the USA found themselves under attack. In New York City, a SUV ploughed into a group of officers even as Mayor De Blasio instructed officers to adhere to a “light touch” policy when dealing with rioters, refusing the help of National Guards as New York City burns.
Black Lives Matter is calling for the defunding of cops. This isn’t a fringe position anymore. It is endorsed by Rashida Tlaib, a sitting member of congress. Several “celebrities” support.
The New York Times published: “No more money for the Police” calling for the elimination of policing and, yes, prisons too.
So who would keep order in the USA? They have a plan. Rapid response social workers and emergency response “programmes” would take care of the problem when criminals smash doors at 2 am to rob, rape or just murder.
Other peoples’ neighbourhoods are not their problem, they’re safe in theirs; they’re in it for the revolution.
And make no mistake about it. What is happening in the USA is a revolution from above, aimed downward. It would be the only revolution in history waged not on behalf of the working class but ultimately against the self-same working class.
Public revulsion at the murder of George Floyd was universal, no one in America defended it. That an officer used such unnecessary force on an unarmed man, not resisting but pleading is also about brutal policing.
Floyd’s killer, Derek Chauvin, involved in two prior police shootings, had 18 complaints on his record; some made by white citizens. A ticking time bomb?
Floyd’s family didn’t make race the issue. They wanted justice; for officers to be fully prosecuted for their horrible actions.
Former Mayor of New York City, Rudy Giulani made another point: “This was not just the fault of the police officer but a poorly trained police department; that man was never trained. The other officers standing there clearly had no training; this would never happen under my watch.”
So, are police in America instruments of systemic racism, white privilege and supremacy, responsible for an inordinate amount of black killings?
Local media seem to think so. One morning talk show host, even as he self righteously condemned racism in America, did not hesitate to call out “rednecks” as Trump supporters. But he did say, people can be racist and don’t even know it.
The FBI uniform crime report last year showed that out of ten million arrests in the USA, police officers were involved in 1,004 fatal shootings. Out of 41 unarmed people, 19 were whites, ten were blacks. Eighty-nine cops were killed in the line of duty. Eighty-two people were shot in Chicago just last weekend within 48 hours, 19 dead. No protests whatsoever. What’s really happening?
Chaos, leaders understand, is the prelude to revolution. Biden in a recent speech didn’t defend officers, instead he deflected the conversation to “systemic racism. The moment has come,” he says, while his staff sends money to the rioters.
Other democrats were in perfect sync. In Seattle, Council woman, Morales all but endorsed the destruction of her own city citing “the unfairness of telling rioters that looting solves nothing.”
In Dallas, the DA is refusing to process rioters. Looters arrested in New York are quickly released under Bail Reform legislation. Massachusetts’ Attorney General described killing and looting as “a once in a lifetime opportunity. Yes, America is burning, but that’s how forests grow.”
The chief law enforcement officer of Massachusetts is glad to see America become mulch, it makes good fertiliser.
Obama, twice elected by a majority of white voters under whose watch the Ferguson, Baltimore and other riots happened, spoke of course of “structural racism.”
Destruction of city blocks, police stations; grandmothers beaten in the face, is defensive, necessary, almost heroic, they portray; a modern manifestation of the civil rights movement.
Founder of the Wilson Institute, Bob Woodson, actually part of the original civil rights movement disagrees: “In the past 50 years, $22 trillion was spent on poverty programs; 70 per cent go not to the poor but those who serve the poor ….now after 50 years of liberal democratic running of inner cities where we have most of these inequities, race is being used as a ruse, as a means of deflecting from asking critical questions such as why poor blacks are failing in systems run by their own people?
“Leaders who are running these failed institutions are inciting racial division to cover their own failures and escape detection. I don’t know what systemic racism is. The problem is more one of class than race.”
Economics, not race, is really at the root of much of the violent protests happening now. Anger at systemic inequities is stoked by the carefully constructed narrative of corporate media and democratic leaders and groups they support. It is racist America to blame.
It’s a cynical ploy where the commanding heights of American democratic leadership want people to believe that present day America is an irredeemably racist nation. They are scam artists who know exactly what they’re avoiding.
Because if you start asking hard questions about class, or the concentrated capita in the hands of their corporations and elites, especially those who own media companies, or their own roles in eradicating black home ownership and wealth, it would show that the answers lie in the pockets of many of these entities and the political analysts they employ.
NBC, MSNBC, the Ministry of Truth at CNN have given up completely on reporting news. They are now revolutionaries, churning out propaganda to wrest back power. Whatever it takes.
Meanwhile, the vast majority of African Americans want peace. They are not inciting chaos. If violent uprising happens, they will likely suffer the most, whilst the same leaders, egging it on, sit back and feign righteous indignation.
