Camara Mackenson David is the new General Secretary of the T&T Football Association, officially replacing Justin Latapy-George whose contract came to an end in November last year.
On Monday evening David's position was made official at the Board of Directors meeting yesterday at the sports' headquarters at The Ato Boldon Stadium in Couva.
The meeting voted in 6-5, with TTFA president David John-Williams using his casting vote to get his choice approved. David, the former T&T Super League secretary general in 2016 will commence duties at the beginning of March following the close of Latapy’s tenure at the end of February.
David is the holder of a Master's Degree in Management, Law and Humanities of Sport and has worked as a business analyst in the Sports Company of T&T. He was also a director of the inaugural T&T Women’s Pro League.
He is currently an adjunct lecturer at UWI for the FIFA/CIES Post Graduate Diploma in Sports Management.
In an immediate reaction, David said he was excited to be part of the FA’s thrust to continue taking T&T football forward. “I am thankful for the faith the president and the Board of the TTFA have put in me and I am very optimistic about the challenges ahead with God’s guidance,” David said.
“The association is slowly but surely finding its feet on solid ground and I’m excited to be part of the change. Bringing back the public’s trust in the association and their love for the game is key and part of the major objectives I intend to achieve,” he continued.
John-Williams, afterwards said David was the preferred choice because he is young, enthusiastic and has football at heart. "A lot of young people are getting involved in the game to add a new dimension. It's just as when we were young, we brought exciting things to football, and I guess it's an opportunity for them to make their mark in T&T football."
The TTFA wishes to thank Latapy-George, who was hired back on December 1, 2016, for his service to the organization and sincerely wishes him the best in his future endeavours. According to John-Williams his former general secretary has worked hard for the football association for the past two years and has worked well.
