Vikash Mohan starred with the ball to claim six wickets as T&T Cricket Board (TTCB) Premier Division I reigning champions Clarke Road rebounded from Saturday’s surprise loss to Preysal to beat Profilbau Victoria in a low-scoring match in Barrackpore on Sunday.
Victoria was sent in to bat and after Marcelle Jones (22) and Kyle Roopchand (22) saw off the opening pair of Clevon Kelawan and Akheel Mollon with a 39-run first-wicket partnership, Mohan was introduced into the attack and right away he disposed of Roopchand and Riyaad Mohammed for one.
Mark Deyal got the wicket of Eton Bhal (0) in between the Mohan demolition as the latter continued with the wicket of Jones and Mollon removed Aaron Nanan for 10.
Mohan claimed six wickets for 21 runs as he was responsible for the removal of Lyndel Nelson (7), Jovan Ali (3) and Avinash Mahabirsingh for five.
Victoria was skittled out for 85 as their batting woes continued having been bowled out by Queens on Saturday for 67.
Clarke Road made light work of the target and reached 88 in 19.4 overs. They lost six wickets in the process and should be a concern to the Wilson Road-based team.
Combined Campuses and Colleges batsman Yannick Ottley topscored with 29 in the small run chase.
Cariah all-round performance lifts QPCC to victory
At the Queen’s Park Oval, West Indies leg spinner Yannic Cariah claimed five for 37 as the hosts, Queen’s Park Cricket Club (QPCC) beat Powergen by four wickets.
Powergen chose to bat first and got 74 from Navin Bediasee and 54 from Cephas Cooper. Cariah was the thorn in the Powergen’s innings as his ten overs produced 5 wickets for just 37 runs. Spinners accounted for 43 overs out of the 50 with Bryan Charles, Khary Pierre, Akeal Hosein and Jyd Goolie all bowling spin.
Powergen closed on 209 for 8.
In reply, Queen’s Park had no major issues in getting to 216 for 6 in 46.1 overs.
Skipper Isaiah Rajah got to 64 and Yannic Cariah returned with the bat to score 49 as the Parkites won by four wickets.
