St Benedict's College edged San Juan North 1-0 to move to seventh on the standings in the Premier Division of the Secondary Schools Football League (SSFL) on Saturday at the Mannie Ramjohn Stadium Marabella.
In the day's lone revised fixture, the southerners got a lone strike from the boot of Akeem Mason to assure them maximum points in the seventh position on 19 points ahead of Queen's Royal College (QRC) which was at the end of a 6-0 drubbing last week.
Unbeaten Naparima College is set to retain the title they won last year, needing just a point when they face Queen's Royal College (QRC) on Tuesday at QRC ground St Clair.
Their southern rival Presentation College is the only team capable of catching them (Naps) if they lose tomorrow. However, Presentation will also need to beat St Anthony's College in Westmoorings and hope the Royalians (QRC) can hold off the League leaders.
<Signal Hill stuns Arima>
Meanwhile, Big Five Play-offs action continued on Saturday with Moruga Secondary rebounding from a 3-3 tie with Fatima College last week by hammering Chaguanas North 5-1 at their home ground to move to the top of the standing on four points, needing to be among the top three teams to earn promotion to the Premiership Division for the 2020 season.
The southerners got goals from Mont Zion Bain, Matthew Lee Cummings, Joshua Kensney, Kevin Stealing and Jeremiah John to cement the win.
The Chaguanas boys were off to a flying start to their campaign by thrashing Signal Hill 4-0.
However, the boys from the sister-isle made amends yesterday when they edged Arima North Secondary 3-2, despite scoring an own goal at the Arima North Ground. Signal Hill got a brace from Xavier King in the 50th and 57thth and another before the stroke of regulation time by Justice Williams (89th).
The home team drew first blood in the 34th minute from Jesus Delicia, before an own-goal by Jerry Sterling gave them their second item on the day in the 65th.
<Fatima crushes Blanchisseuse 10-1>
In Coca Cola action which took place in the East zone last week on Thursday, Malabar Secondary shut-out El Dorado East Secondary 2-0.
And in the North, Azahrias Ali fired in a beaver-trick (four goals) to guide Fatima College to a more-than-convincing 10-1 rout of Blanchisseuse Secondary at St Mary's College Ground, St Clair on Friday.
Apart from Ali, there were also double strikes by Joshua Mason and Giovanni Warner, as well as a goal apiece from Joshua Lewis and Christopher Syms.
Premier Division campaigners St Mary's College edged Diego Martin Central 5-4 and Tranquility also advanced to the next phase of the InterCol play-off with a 2-0 victory over Mucurapo West.
