Chris Richards Jr captured 2021 the Republic Bank Junior Open Golf Championship as expected with a nine-story victory over Jean-Marc Chevrotiere to close out the tournament at Millennium Lakes Gold Course in Trincity, on Thursday.
Richards, 16, the winner of the T&T Open Championships title two weekends ago and the Pointe-a-Pierre Flight, followed up his previous efforts of 73 and 72 with 74 to gross 219, to secure the National Junior championship in the 16 -18 Boys' category which comprised ten challengers.
Chevrotiere stayed on course a secured second place with 79 to finish on 228, as he struggled on the final day of play. He had scores of 74 and 75 in his earlier rounds.
The Brechin Castle Open champion Zico Correia ended the final day's play with a 79 to gross 238 to finish third. His previous two days' play produced efforts of 83 and 76, respectively.
Ethan Hill dominated the boys 14-15 age group with a final day effort of 72 to finish on 230 some 11 strokes better than Aiden Ali, who shot 80 in holding off Alex Kangoo, who shot 86 to gross 253 as he matched Tuesday's disappointing score. His best was 81 on day one from a competitive nine-man group.
Among the Girls' competition, Fatimah Emamalie, gross 285 after she shot 97 which was disappointing compare to the 93 she recorded on Wednesday and 95 on Tuesday. Elise La Borde, who struggled on Wednesday with 106, shot 104 yesterday to gross 317.
The lone competitor in the boys 11-13 category, Isaiah Rowley recorded a 91 and gross 277, while Emily Wyatt was the top girl in the nine-hole play and Felipe Roopchand-Santiago was the boy's equivalent. The other winners were Yusif Mohammed (3 Holes), Varin Singh (6 Holes).
