T&T’s Channon Thompson scored four points as her Red Ravens Vilsbiburg went under to SSC Schwerin 17-25, 21-25, 21-25 in the Germany Women’s Bundesliga (First Division) Volleyball Championship at the Palmberg Arena on Saturday.
For SSC Schwerin, Lina Alsmeier led all scorers with 18 points while Burcu Yuzgenc added 13, and the pair of Pia Kastner and Lindsey Ruddins 12 each as they improved their win-loss record to 12-2 and 36 points, two behind leaders SC Potsdam (13-1).
The pair of Jazmine White and Indy Baijens chipped in with nine, and eight points respectively while Paola Soto Nunez had a team-high 13 points for Vilsbiburg, losers of five of their last seven matches.
The pair of Katrina Kokkomnen and Wilmarie River added nine each, Nicole Heppell eight, Marie Arbos six, and Dayana Segovia, and Thompson four points apiece as they dropped their record to 6-8 to slip into the eighth and final playoff spot with 16 points, five more than VfB Suhl (4-10), and Black and White Erfurt (2-12), while Nawaro Straubing (2-12), and VC Neuwied (1-13) are next with eight and three points, respectively.
Defending champion Allianz MTV Stuttgart is third with a 12-2 record as well with 36 points followed by Dresden SC (9-5), Ladies in Black Aachen (8-6), USC Muenster (8-6) and VC Wiesbaden (6-8) with 27, 22, 22, and 19 points, respectively.
The 28-year-old Thompson and her teammates will next be in action on February 4 at home to Muenster at the Ball Sports Hall in Vilsbiburg.
