Headquarters White Eagles remained the lone team with a 100 per cent winning record in the 2024 T&T Fire Service Northern Division 12-Overs Windball Cricket League after a narrow 12 runs win over Tunapuna Warriors at the Tyro Recreation Ground, Bourg Mulatresse, San Juan last Wednesday.
Batting first, the White Eagles posted a challenging 112 for the loss of seven wickets in their turn at the crease with Duane Phillip blasting 36, and Keegan Delandro 17.
The in-form Kristofer Alfred, who starred in the Warrior’s upset win of reigning five-time champions Headquarters Blue Steel, led the run chase for his team with 31.
However, White Eagles bowler Kern Scott was also on top of his game with figures three for 19 from his allotted two overs to help restrict Warriors to 100, 13 runs from their target.
With the win, the White Eagles improved to a maximum of four wins from as many matches for eight points, two behind Blue Steel and Santa Cruz Cruzers, who both won on Saturday.
Blue Steel rebounded from their loss with an emphatic nine-wicket win over Arima Elites on Saturday.
Batting first, Arima Elites tallied 75 for the loss of three wickets with Shawn Alibocas getting a top score of 15 not out, and Andrew Loman 14 not out in their match which was reduced to 11 overs due to a brief shower just before the start.
In reply, Blue Steel made easy work of their chase reaching their target of 76 for the loss of one wicket with Kadeem Williams 20, and Jeremy Carter 19, both not out.
And Jerome Felix hit 20 runs to lead Cruzers to their target for 86 for the loss of three wickets, and a third win on the trot, after Belmont Biohazards were limited to 84 for six batting first with Roger Gilkes scoring a match-high 26 runs in a losing effort.
