Yes it's true. The mega hit and well-loved play that has become an unrivaled benchmark of T&T theatre is back. Mary Could Dance is here for the first and only time in 2009 for two exclusive nights, while the Commonwealth Heads Of Government Meeting is in town. The critically acclaimed and box office success that is Mary Could Dance will be on for two nights only–November 28-29–at the Naparima Bowl. San Fernando.
The play, which is considered among the best ever of local theatre, has been running since 1997 and has done more than 150 performances throughout Trinidad and Tobago, as well as Grenada, St Vincent, St Lucia and Ireland. Rights to do the play have also been sought by theatre companies in Jamaica, the United States and England. Mary Could Dance currently holds the national record for the most Cacique Theatre Awards ever won by a single production, sweeping the awards and winning ten of the fifteen awards that were up for grabs. So loved is the play that there are many patrons who have seen it multiple times and who return year after year as the play is staged to critical and box office success.
