Changing teams had no effect on Rhonda John-Davis' performance as, for the second straight season, the centre-court player was named the "Most Valuable Player" (MVP) of the Courts All Sectors Netball League. This was at the league's awards ceremony held at the Hyatt Regency Trinidad, Port-of-Spain, on Tuesday night.
John-Daviswon the top award last year with the Defence Force outfit but this time around, she was part of the Police roster.
The addition of the senior national netball captain to the "grey and blue" boosted them to three titles–the Jean Pierre Challenge, Divisional Knockout and Fast Net–in the Championship Division. Police placed second in the league competition, just missing out the top position due to goal-difference.
In the Alternative Division, it was Prisons' defender Petronella Walcott winning the MVP prize. She was rewarded for her outstanding play, also earning her the top defender and MVP of her team.
Prisons, which debuted this season, placed second in the opening day knockout contest in the Alternative Y Division. The prison officers went on to finish third in the league competition and ended the season winning its division's Fast Net crown. The staff of ASNL, celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, was also honoured.
