T&T's hopes of reach­ing the semi­fi­nal of Group A of the 2010 Fed Cup Amer­i­can Group 11 were dashed by Cos­ta Ri­ca (CRC) which won their match-up at the Na­tion­al Ten­nis Club, Guayaquil, Ecuador, on Thurs­day. T&T went in­to the en­counter on a high af­ter re­bound­ing from its open­ing day 3-0 de­feat at the hands of Ba­hamas to reg­is­ter a 3-0 win over Do­mini­can Re­pub­lic. In the first match, Unit­ed States-based Lee-Ann Lin­go still nurs­ing a shoul­der in­jury got the bet­ter of Cami­la Que­sa­da 5-7 in the first set. But it went down­hill from there as Que­sa­da ral­lied back to take the sec­ond set 6-4, be­fore clos­ing out the third at 6-2 for the win.

Olivia Ben­nett like Lin­go start­ed by tak­ing the first set 5-7, how­ev­er, she too lost her way in the sec­ond as Lau­ra Viquez on­ly dropped one game in the set tak­ing it 6-1. Ben­nett put up a fight in the third and fi­nal set but Viquez was able to hold her off to claim the set at 6-4 and the match. The dou­bles match on­ly last­ed two sets as the T&T pair of Day­na Grazette and Lin­go was put to the sword in the first set by Melis­sa Golfin and Que­sa­da 6-1. The twin is­land women who were play­ing to­geth­er for the first time in the tour­na­ment re­grouped and bat­tled back in the sec­ond to 5-5, how­ev­er the Cos­ta Ri­can pair was able to win the next two games to take the match to com­plete the 3-0 win.
