On Sun­day night, T&T's An­drew Fer­min, a sil­ver medal­list four years ago se­cured a spot in the medal round af­ter his op­po­nent Do­mini­ca's Lenon Ban­nis was dis­qual­i­fied trail­ing 6-1 in their men's lightheavy­weight (-81kg) quar­ter­fi­nal fight.

Fer­min beat Elmer Salguero of Guatemala on Sat­ur­day when the ref­er­ee stopped the con­test at the end of the first round of his bout with the T&T box­er ahead 1-0.

Last night, fel­low T&T pugilist, Aaron Has­sette lost 2-1 to Do­mini­can Re­pub­lic's Ri­car­do Gar­cia in their light­wel­ter­weight (-64kg) quar­ter­fi­nal and Den­zil Salazar was beat­en 6-2 by Do­mini­can Re­pub­lic's Cris­t­ian Cabr­era in his heavy­weight (-91kgs) quar­ter­fi­nal.
