Police have arrested a man believed to be responsible for a series of burglaries and armed robberies along the East-West Corridor.
The suspect was arrested around 7.30 pm Tuesday when a bouncer at Josef's Sport Bar on Green Street, Arima, noticed two men breaking into a vehicle at the car park.
The bouncer confronted the men and captured one. The other suspect ran off. On searching the first suspect, security officers found a shotgun in a bag he was carrying. He was later handed over to the Arima Police.
The suspect appeared to fit the description of a man who had been robbing regular taxis and maxis at gunpoint, police sources revealed yesterday. He allegedly fitted the profile of a burglar wanted in the Arima district. He was expected to be placed on several identification parades late yesterday before charges were laid against him. Arima CID detectives are investigating.
