Po­lice have ar­rest­ed a man be­lieved to be re­spon­si­ble for a se­ries of bur­glar­ies and armed rob­beries along the East-West Cor­ri­dor.

The sus­pect was ar­rest­ed around 7.30 pm Tues­day when a bounc­er at Josef's Sport Bar on Green Street, Ari­ma, no­ticed two men break­ing in­to a ve­hi­cle at the car park.

The bounc­er con­front­ed the men and cap­tured one. The oth­er sus­pect ran off. On search­ing the first sus­pect, se­cu­ri­ty of­fi­cers found a shot­gun in a bag he was car­ry­ing. He was lat­er hand­ed over to the Ari­ma Po­lice.

The sus­pect ap­peared to fit the de­scrip­tion of a man who had been rob­bing reg­u­lar taxis and max­is at gun­point, po­lice sources re­vealed yes­ter­day. He al­leged­ly fit­ted the pro­file of a bur­glar want­ed in the Ari­ma dis­trict. He was ex­pect­ed to be placed on sev­er­al iden­ti­fi­ca­tion pa­rades late yes­ter­day be­fore charges were laid against him. Ari­ma CID de­tec­tives are in­ves­ti­gat­ing.
