For­mer West In­dies cap­tain Bri­an Lara will join Prime Min­is­ter Kam­la Per­sad-Bisses­sar in the of­fi­cial T&T del­e­ga­tion which will at­tend the state fu­ner­al for the late Bar­ba­dos Prime Min­is­ter David Thomp­son to­day. Per­sad-Bisses­sar con­firmed this week that she, the world bat­ting leg­end Lara, along with a mem­ber of her cab­i­net, would make up the con­tin­gent. "The For­eign Af­fairs Min­is­ter (Dr Su­ru­jrat­tan Ram­bachan) and my­self will at­tend the fu­ner­al on Wednes­day and of course Bri­an Lara," said Per­sad-Bisses­sar.

"Bri­an Lara is be­ing spe­cial­ly in­vit­ed to at­tend so he will al­so be a part of the Trinidad and To­ba­go del­e­ga­tion." Sev­er­al oth­er prime min­is­ters and dig­ni­taries are ex­pect­ed to at­tend the fu­ner­al slat­ed for Kens­ing­ton Oval. Thomp­son passed away on Oc­to­ber 23 af­ter a brief bat­tle with pan­cre­at­ic can­cer. (CMC)
