Port-of-Spain May­or Ray­mond Tim Kee did not ten­der in his res­ig­na­tion at the emer­gency City Cor­po­ra­tion coun­cil meet­ing to­day.

On Sat­ur­day Tim Kee an­nounced his in­ten­tion to re­sign a day af­ter scores of con­cerned cit­i­zens and hu­man rights ac­tivists staged a protest at Wood­ford Square in Port-of-Spain, call­ing for him to step down over com­ments he made on the dis­cov­ery of Japan­ese pan­nist Asa­mi Na­gakiya's body at the Queen's Park Sa­van­nah on Wednes­day.

How­ev­er, at the Coun­cil meet­ing which be­gan at 10.30 am to­day, Tim Kee did not re­sign.

He was ex­pect­ed to read his res­ig­na­tion in­to the record, but the me­dia were told that this did not hap­pen.

Now the coun­cil is at a de­lib­er­a­tion stage where mem­bers of the coun­cil are de­lib­er­at­ing the fu­ture of Tim Kee's tenure. This al­so gives the May­or time to de­lib­er­ate whether or not he is go­ing to re­sign.

Yes­ter­day an on­line pe­ti­tion was start­ed on Go Pe­ti­tion to en­cour­age Tim Kee not to re­sign. How­ev­er that pe­ti­tion on­ly gained 281 sig­na­tures. A pe­ti­tion on Change.org start­ed by Roger Ra­jan called: "Sup­port for May­or Ray­mond Tim Kee...His words were mere­ly ad­vice of cau­tion and con­cern" got more than 700 sig­na­tures.

The pe­ti­tion for Tim Kee to re­sign which was start­ed by so­cial ac­tivist group Wom­antra got more than 10,000 sig­na­tures to date.

A call was made out on Face­book yes­ter­day to hold a vig­il in sup­port of Tim Kee, and scores of peo­ple al­so showed up out­side Wood­ford Square to­day.
