Ian Alleyne detained by police

Crime Watch host, Ian Al­leyne, is in po­lice cus­tody af­ter he was ar­rest­ed out­side the home of the own­er of a Ch­agua­nas busi­ness­for al­leged­ly us­ing ob­scene lan­guage.

Al­leyne was out­side the home of the busi­ness­man to fol­low up on a sto­ry about al­le­ga­tions of do­mes­tic abuse.

Over the week­end, so­cial me­dia was flood­ed with im­ages of a woman who was ac­cus­ing the busi­ness­man of as­sault­ing her.

Around 9.30am to­day when he and the busi­ness­man were hav­ing a con­ver­sa­tion, a group of po­lice of­fi­cers ap­peared on the scene.

T&T Guardian un­der­stands Al­leyne and a well-known se­nior po­lice of­fi­cer got in­to a scuf­fle out­side the home in Or­chardGar­dens, which led to the TV host's ar­rest.

They were al­leg­ing that he was us­ing ob­scene lan­guage.

Al­leyne is cur­rent­ly re­ceiv­ing treat­ment at the Er­ic Williams Med­ical Sci­ences Cen­tre af­ter com­plain­ing about not feel­ing well.

When asked by the me­dia if he was us­ing ob­scene lan­guage, he cat­e­gor­i­cal­ly said no.

Al­leyne is be­ing rep­re­sent­ed by at­tor­ney Ger­ard Ramdeen.

It is un­clear if the busi­ness own­er who was ac­cused of abuse is al­so be­ing charged.
