Roberts shows fight against Merry Boys

For­mer West In­dies bats­man Lin­coln Roberts struck a half cen­tu­ry for Jailal En­ter­prise Vic­to­ria against Mer­ry Boys on the first day of the sec­ond round of the T&T Crick­et Board (TTCB) Pre­mier­ship One three-day com­pe­ti­tion, yes­ter­day.

Roberts, now 41 years old, top-scored with 84 for Vic­to­ria to lead Vic­to­ria to 251 all out bat­ting first at the Bar­rack­pore West Sec­ondary School Ground. Roberts, who played one Test match for the West In­dies in 1999, was sup­port­ed by Ran­ga Latchana, who scored 72.

Philton Williams (3/85) and Javed Ramd­hanie (3/60) both snatched three wick­ets to help re­duce Vic­to­ria's to­tal.In re­ply, Mer­ry Boys closed on 137/3 with the in-form Isa­iah Ra­jah top scor­ing with 75 and Mario Bel­con pitch­ing in with 61. Ra­jah slammed 138 in the first round against Pow­er­gen.

The same fix­tures will take place to­day in the TTCB 50-over com­pe­ti­tion, while round two of the three-day com­pe­ti­tion will con­tin­ue on Sat­ur­day and con­clude next Sun­day.
