Five play­ers from last year's na­tion­al Un­der-15 crick­et team in­clud­ing Leonar­do Julien will be­gin train­ing to­day for this year's West In­dies Crick­et Board (WICB) 50-over Re­gion­al U-15 tour­na­ment in Guyana next month.

Train­ing will be­gin un­der Coach Glen Dwari­ka at the Sir Frank Wor­rell De­vel­op­ment Cen­tre in Bal­main, Cou­va, from 5 pm.

Julien will cap­tain the team and will be joined by Joshua James, Gereeb Louis, Bran­don Singh and Avinash Ma­habirs­ingh, who were all part of last year's unit.

The WICB com­pe­ti­tion is sched­uled to bowl off on Ju­ly 20 when T&T will com­pete against Wind­ward Is­lands, Lee­ward Is­lands, Ja­maica, Bar­ba­dos and home team Guyana.

An­tho­ny Ramjit will serve as the team's man­ag­er.

...young U-19 squad se­lect­ed

Four play­ers on the na­tion­al U-17 team will al­so rep­re­sent the na­tion­al U-19 team in the WICB 50-over Re­gion­al tour­na­ment in Ja­maica, which al­so bowls off on Ju­ly 20.

The bat­ting quar­tet of Kea­gan Sim­mons, Kirstan Kallicha­ran, Sai­ba Ba­toos­ingh and Cephas Coop­er, will rep­re­sent both na­tion­al youth teams. Sim­mons, Kallicha­ran and Ba­toos­ingh were all part of the na­tion­al U-15 team which won the WICB Re­gion­al U-15 tour­na­ment in 2013.

Varindra Ja­grup will cap­tain the U-19 team, while Amir Jan­goo has been se­lect­ed as the vice-cap­tain. Ja­grup is hop­ing for more suc­cess at the helm, af­ter lead­ing the na­tion­al U-17 team to the re­gion­al crown in 2013.
