In spite of its name, Par­ty Done for the Freak Next Door is the kind of pro­duc­tion every ac­tor and pro­duc­er dreams of. Every com­po­nent of good the­atre is catered for and re­alised in this black com­e­dy. It is en­ter­tain­ing, ed­u­ca­tion­al, dra­mat­ic, in­spi­ra­tional and most of all com­i­cal; a once in a life­time pro­duc­tion.

Ray­mond Choo Kong, pi­o­neer of com­e­dy the­atre in T&T, di­rec­tor of the mul­ti­ple Cacique Award win­ning Mary Could Dance, be­lieves that Trinida­di­an au­di­ences have al­ways had a dis­cern­ing eye for ex­cel­lence in en­ter­tain­ment.

"RCKP (Ray­mond Choo Kong Pro­duc­tions) in­ten­tions for the last 30-odd years has been qual­i­ty, qual­i­ty, qual­i­ty," said the cel­e­brat­ed thes­pi­an and di­rec­tor." His fo­cus on con­tin­u­ous train­ing has al­ways been fore­most in his process.

Par­ty Done for the Freak Next Door will be staged at Queen's Hall, St Ann's from Feb­ru­ary 26 to March 1.

The play is about a Trinidad sit­u­a­tion of a fam­i­ly in cri­sis. Com­e­dy, as any good Trinida­di­an knows, can be found in all as­pects of our lives and even in the most un­like of sce­nar­ios.

When some­one los­es his wife and finds out that his son is gay on the same day–we laugh (Nor­man is that You; 1999), some­one gets "horn" and phys­i­cal­ly abused–we laugh (Di­ary of a Bad Red Woman; 2014); we even laugh at fu­ner­als (Death at a Fu­ner­al; 2010.)

Par­ty Done for the Freak Next Door fea­tures two of Trinidad's top ac­tors– Ce­cil­ia Salazar and Choo Kong–sea­soned prac­ti­tion­ers with a to­tal of 26 Cacique Awards be­tween them.
