Deborah Jean-Baptiste-Samuel and her Oratory Foundation presents Julius Caesar through Caribbean lens. The Oratory Foundation repeats Julius Caesar, for one night only, as part of its Shakespeare festival, a release from the Foundation said.Julius Caesar will be staged on September 9 at Naparima Bowl, San Fernando.

The premiere opening of Julius Caesar was in fact on the Ides of March (March 15), and was a resounding success, said the release.Naparima Bowl came alive to the rhythm of the soothsayer and of the chants of the crowd; the deceptive persuasive lyrics of Cassius, the charm of Marc Antony's eloquence and the resonance of the stubborn arrogance of Caesar. In Julius Caesar, the tenor and tone of social upheaval from political discontent pulsates with historical relevance in the Caribbean. In this production, there are echoes of Caribbean riots and uprisings.

According to Jean-Baptiste-Samuel, "In Julius Caesar we understand the impact of the soothsayer who translates as village seer or 'warner'; the trickster's plots for power; the potency of night-dreams as signs that herald disaster; disturbing decibels of doom in thunderstorm; rebellion and resistance, verbal rituals, song and chant."

Julius Caesar takes place on September 9 at Naparima Bowl, San Fernando.
