Defending champion Miami United and Chargers World Select shared top honours on the opening day of the fifth annual Bago Sports Beach Soccer Championships at the Black Rock Heritage Park, on Friday.Both teams played unbeaten after two rounds of matches in Group A and led the group with six points each. Miami leads with a goal difference of plus-17 after demolishing last year's runner-up Real Unity of Trinidad, 13�0, and local team, Who Iz Next, 8�4.Chargers World Select sat in second before yesterday's matches with a plus-13 goal difference after edging Antioquia of Colombia, 5�4, and getting past Who Iz Next, 7�4. The two unbeaten met yesterday.
Miami's Brazilian star Beiwerson is the top goal scorer with six strikes leading the way with hat-trick in both of Miami's victories. National beach soccer standout Dominic McDougal (Who Iz Next) is on four goals along with Betto Lima (Miami United) and Lucas Duque (Antioquia). McDougal recorded a hat-trick in this team's 4�7 loss to Antioquia. Another national player Makan Hislop (Who is Next) also registered a hat-trick in his team's losing effort against Miami United.Club Meta of Colombia led Group B with three points after winning their lone match, 6�2, against Team Canada. Chargers Beach Select sat in the runner-up spot with a narrow 3�2 win against home side Black Rock.

Team Canada and Black Rock both sought their first wins of the Championship when they met yesterday. Real Unity vs Who Iz Next met in the final fixture yesterday.The winner of Group A will line up against the runner-up in Group B today from for 2 pm, while Group B winner and Group A's second-placed team will feature in the second semifinal from 3pm. The third place play-off is set for 5.30 pm with the grand finals set for 7 pm.The team will be playing for over US $20,000 in prizes. The winners will take home US$15,000.
