Title-holder Neal & Massy Caledonia AIA will be wary of National Super League's Grafton Stokely Vale when both teams meet in one of four quarterfinal matches in the T&T Football Federation FA Trophy competition from 5 pm today at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo.
In the other matches, Central Football Association's Cunupia FA faces North East Stars, Pro League's Central FC meets Secondary Schools Football League Shiva Boys' Hindu College and T&TEC comes up against Southern Football Association's Pt Fortin Civic Centre.
Down at Mucurapo, Caledonia, which earned its spot in the last-eight with a narrow 1-0 win over Joe Public (Eastern Football Association) via a strike from Soca Warriors defender Aubrey Davis, will start as favourites to overcome Stokely Vale.
But the Tobagonians will also be brimming with confidence, having stunned Caledonia 6-5 on penalty-kicks after a thrilling 3-3 draw in the round-of-16 of the Toyota Classic competition last November, while it ousted former FA winner and current Pro League leader Defence Force 2-1 in the previous round with Rundell Winchester and Dominic Mc Dougall on strike to cancel out a Devorn Jorsling effort.
However, two of the players who were instrumental in the "Vale" victory, Winchester and Omar Charles, have since joined T&T Pro League outfit Central FC, making their task much harder this afternoon.
On the other hand, Caledonia, which is second on the Pro League table behind Defence Force after edging Stars 1-0 on Saturday and has already won the First Citizens Cup for the 2012/2013 campaign, has bolstered its squad with the signing of 22-year-old Grenadian goalkeeper Shemel Louison and midfielder Sherron Joseph, younger brother of long-standing right-back Kareem Joseph, during the window which runs from December 17 to January 15.
The newly-signed pair will join an already strong squad which includes T&T internationals Keyon Edwards, Jamal Gay, David, Densil Theobald and Atualla Guerra.
At Woodford Lodge, Chaguanas, defender Keith Simpson, a former Jamaica Under-20 player, who signed from Jamaican club Tivoli Gardens is expected to make his debut for the Angus Eve-coached Stars when it tackles Cunupia FC from 6 pm.
In the round-of-16, Cunupia held off Mathura FC 3-2, while Stars, winners of the Toyota Classic crown last month, blanked 1st FC Santa Rosa 2-0. Last December, T&TEC whipped Enterprise Youths 3-1 and Pt Fortin Civic Centre blanked Joe Public's Super League line-up 2-0.
