Daystar Swift had a near perfect shooting performance as the University of T&T cooled off defending champions Fire Service 42-35 in their Courts All Sectors Netball League Premiership Division Steve Sarjeant Challenge at the Eastern Regional Indoor Sports Arena, Tacarigua, on Monday night.
Goal shooter Swift ended with 34 goals from 39 attempts and goal attack Jillisa Allan, eight from 19, as UTT led at the end of all three quarters 11-9, 23-18 and 39-26.Afeisha Noel led Fire Service with 20 goals from 30 attempts and former national player Simone Morgan got 15 from 24 for Fire, which defeated Police in its title-defence opener, last week.
Meanwhile, TSTT remained on course for another title in the Retro Division after crushing Les Femmes 20-9 in their knockout semifinal inspired by Debra Alie's 15 goals from 21.In the final, TSTT will come up against CCS which proved too much for Harlem, trumping them 14-6 after pipping Les Enfants 11-9 in the lone quarterfinal. Tomorrow Premiership Division knockout starts at 5.30pm.
