Goal shoot­ers Gur­sh­er Grant and Patrice Gor­ing were the toast of their team­mates as Po­lice end­ed the 2013 Courts All Sec­tors Net­ball League on a high, by claim­ing the Pre­mier Di­vi­sion Steve Sar­jeant Chal­lenge and Cham­pi­onship Di­vi­sion Jean Pierre Chal­lenge knock­out crowns at the East­ern Re­gion­al In­door Sports Are­na, Tacarigua, in the space of three days.

On Thurs­day night, Grant con­vert­ed 29 of 36 at­tempts as the 'Law-women' brushed aside last year's win­ner Fire Ser­vice 46-37 in a vir­tu­al fi­nal, for a third straight win in the Steve Sar­jeant Chal­lenge and earn a max­i­mum six points and the ti­tle.

Na­tion­al play­er and goal at­tack Joelisa Coop­er chipped in with 17 valu­able goals for Po­lice from 24 at­tempts as they held off a late ral­ly from Fire Ser­vice, af­ter be­ing ahead 11-8, 30-14 and 39-27 at the end of the first three quar­ters.

Pri­or to the Po­lice and Fire Ser­vice en­counter, De­fence Force got its first win of the tour­na­ment when league cham­pi­ons Uni­ver­si­ty of T&T (UTT) de­fault­ed.

De­spite the loss, its sec­ond in three match­es, UTT still end­ed sec­ond on the ta­ble due to a bet­ter goal dif­fer­ence than De­fence Force and Fire Ser­vice with all three teams on two points each.

Two days ear­li­er at the same venue, Gor­ing al­most sin­gle-hand­ed­ly car­ried Po­lice to the Jean Pierre Chal­lenge knock­out ti­tle when she scored 28 of her 36 at­tempts in their nar­row 30-29 tri­umph over di­vi­sion­al league cham­pi­ons Bermudez.

Po­lice, which led 15-13 at the half-time in­ter­val, al­so got two im­por­tant goals from Don­neisha Wick­ham while Kathy James, with 17 from 22, and In­dra An­der­son, with 12 from 18, were the scor­ers for Bermudez.

In the semi­fi­nal round, Po­lice pow­ered past De­fence Force 33-25 with Gor­ing scor­ing 28 goals, while Bermudez stopped Jabloteh 24-20 in­spired by James' 13 goals from 16 at­tempts.

To­day, the league will host its clos­ing cer­e­mo­ny and awards func­tion from 3 pm at Tacarigua.
