KINGSTON–T&T knocked over five-time de­fend­ing cham­pi­ons Ja­maica cheap­ly to grab the ad­van­tage on the open­ing day of their sixth round clash in the Re­gion­al Four-Day Cham­pi­onship yes­ter­day.

Sent in at Sabi­na Park, Ja­maica were bun­dled out for 147 and at the close, T&T were 36 for one in re­ply.Ja­maica were 104 for three at one stage but col­lapsed to lose their last sev­en wick­ets for a mere 43 runs.

Left-arm spin­ner Kavesh Kan­tas­ingh, in his first match of the re­gion­al sea­son, led T&T's at­tack with five for 35 while seam­er Rayad Em­rit kept up his good form with four for 35.Dan­za Hy­att top scored with 57 and Bren­ton Parch­ment got 25, but Ja­maica failed to cope with T&T's var­ied bowl­ing line up.

T&T, how­ev­er, suf­fered an ear­ly set­back in the fifth over when they lost out-of-favour West In­dies open­er Adri­an Barath for three with the score on five for one.Lendl Sim­mons, who fin­ished the day on un­beat­en on 25, then saw T&T safe­ly through to the close with no fur­ther loss.

Ja­maica were giv­en a strong start by Hy­att and Parch­ment who put on 52 to de­ny the Trinida­di­ans any ear­ly suc­cess.They raised the half-cen­tu­ry stand off just 88 de­liv­er­ies be­fore Em­rit struck some telling blows to en­gi­neer a slide. He bowled Parch­ment, re­moved Nkrumah Bon­ner for eight at 64 for two be­fore pris­ing out Jer­maine Black­wood with­out scor­ing, with just eight runs added.

Parch­ment faced 58 balls in 76 min­utes at the crease and struck three fours.Ja­maica stum­bled to lunch on 78 for three, with Hy­att un­beat­en on 26 and cap­tain Tamar Lam­bert on five, and car­ried on well af­ter­ward to raise the 100-run mark off 192 balls.

The pair had added 32 when Lam­bert was caught by Im­ran Khan to give Em­rit his fourth scalp of the in­nings at 104 for four.Hy­att raised his half-cen­tu­ry off 127 balls in 186 min­utes with four fours and a six but could not pre­vent the slide as Kan­tas­ingh got stuck in­to the Ja­maica's mid­dle and low­er or­der
