Zachary Clarke and Nicholas Camacho scored hat-tricks as Queen's Park routed Corona Fatima 11-1 for its second straight win in the T&T Hockey Board Trinity Men's Division at the National Hockey Centre, Tacarigua, on Wednesday night.
Clarke fired in the opener for the Parkites in the first minute and added further items in the fourth and ninth minutes, while Nicholas Camacho got his treble in the seventh, 18th and 21st in the lopsided victory.
For the Parkites, Gary Chin (13th) and Robert Wyatt (23rd) also scored, before Colin Young got one back for Fatima a minute later to trail 8-1 at the half.
Six minutes before the interval, Jordie O'Brien made it 9-1 for the Parkites, while Wyatt (51st), and Mark Ayen (70th) rounded off the scoring for Queen's Park.
With the victory, the Parkites, which spanked Police 5-1 in its opener, moved to the top of the round-robin table with maximum six points from two matches, the same as Malvern, which blasted Shape 9-0 on Monday led by a hat-trick from Teague Marcano (57th, 63rd, 70th) and braces from Kyle Cowie (13th, 55th) and Anthony Marcano (45th, 49th).
On Tuesday, Defence Force and Carib picked up their first points of the campaign in an entertaining 3-2 draw with Aaron Mc Kenzie (66th, 67th) scoring two late items to earn the "Teteron Boys" a point.
Edwin Christmas had earlier scored twice for Carib in the fourth and 37th minute, while teammate Randall Ramsammy added the other for a 3-1 lead minutes into the second half. Brian Burrows netted Defence Force's opener in the 16th.
Also on Wednesday, Shaniah De Freitas (34th), Gabby Permell (41st) and Michelle Leoutaud (60th) were all on target for Shandy Carib Magnolias in a 3-0 shutout of rivals Ventures.
Magnolias now have six points from its two matches, level with Notre Dame, which has played a match more, while Defence Force is next with four points.
On Tuesday, Tamia Roach scored two late first-half items in the 26th and 32nd minutes for the Dames in its 5-2 whipping of Malvern.
Sherry-Ann Woodruffe (38th), Nicole Whiteman (45th) and Vanessa Chewitt (54th) also found the back of the net for the Dames to cancel out Teresa Lezama's 23rd-minute strike and in the 53rd by Rachel Davis.
Former national duo Kecia Hosein and Mindy Charles secured a first win for Maritime Harvard Checkers 2-0 on Police on Monday.
Tonight, two matches are scheduled in the Mixed Veterans Division from 7 pm, with Carib facing Fatima followed by defending champions Queen's Park against Paragon at 8.45 pm.
Meanwhile, the T&T senior men's hockey team has embarked on a journey to drastically improve their overall physical fitness in order to compete with and surpass their international rivals in the hockey arena.
This plan is being made possible through Sports Company of Trinidad & Tobago's Elite Development and Performance Unit which is based at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, Mucurapo.
The senior men's hockey squad, which recently participated in a second round FIH World Hockey League qualifiers in Brazil, is preparing for the Pan American Cup to be held in Canada in August.
