The Clas­si­cal Mu­sic De­vel­op­ment Foun­da­tion of Trinidad & To­ba­go (CMDFTT) Young Artist Col­lec­tive singers and the UTT String Or­ches­tra will present Hen­ry Pur­cell's Di­do and Ae­neas on Sat­ur­day and Sun­day at Daa­ga Hall, UWI, St Au­gus­tine.

Ac­cord­ing to a CMDFTT re­lease, the en­sem­ble will be un­der the ba­ton of guest con­duc­tor Col­in Mendez-Mor­ris of the Toron­to-based, eth­no­cul­tur­al Ar­sMu­si­ca opera com­pa­ny.

Singing the role of Di­do, is out­stand­ing so­pra­no Na­talia Dop­well, who brings a full-bod­ied, yet sen­si­tive vo­cal qual­i­ty to the role.

UTT artist in res­i­dence, Nicole Jor­dan (so­pra­no) brings her light and en­er­getic so­pra­no voice to the role of Be­lin­da, while Raguel Gabriel (tenor) sings the role of Ae­neas.

The per­for­mance will al­so fea­ture Shel­lon An­toine (bass) as Sor­cer­er.

"Much de­tailed work has gone in­to the prepa­ra­tion of the en­sem­ble, the or­ches­tra un­der the di­rec­tion of con­cert­mas­ter Jonathan Stor­er, and the singers with the vo­cal guid­ance of June Nathaniel, over many months of re­hearsal," says the re­lease.

The pro­duc­tion will be staged by Dr Helmer Hilwig with cos­tum­ing by Mar­garet Shep­pard.
