Two-time win­ner Di­recTV W Con­nec­tion will be chas­ing an­oth­er piece of his­to­ry when it faces North East Stars in the fi­nal of the Dig­i­cel Pro Bowl com­pe­ti­tion, the fi­nal match of the 2012/2013 Dig­i­cel T&T Pro League sea­son at the Hase­ly Craw­ford Sta­di­um, Mu­cu­rapo, from 8 pm tonight.Cur­rent­ly, the Stu­art Charles-Fevri­er-coached W Con­nec­tion are lev­el with for­mer Pro League clubs San Juan Jabloteh (2005 and 2006) and Joe Pub­lic (2009 and 2011) as two-time win­ner of the tour­na­ment and with a win tonight, will be the most suc­cess­ful club in the com­pe­ti­tion. The club was al­so run­ner-up on three pre­vi­ous oc­ca­sions–in 2005, 2006 and 2011.

On the oth­er hand, Stars, led by for­mer na­tion­al cap­tain An­gus Eve, a win­ner at Jabloteh first as a play­er and then as­sis­tant coach to Eng­lish­man Ter­ry Fen­wick, will be ap­pear­ing in its first Pro Bowl cham­pi­onship match and will be keen to add its name to list of win­ners, which stands at five, with Neal & Massy Cale­do­nia AIA (2008) and De­fence Force, last year, the oth­er win­ners.

Last week, in the semi­fi­nal at the Mar­vin Lee Sta­di­um, Ma­coya, both W Con­nec­tion and Stars were made to work hard for their pas­sage in­to the fi­nal by De­fence Force and league debu­tants Cen­tral FC re­spec­tive­ly, win­ning 4�3 and 5�3 re­spec­tive­ly af­ter 1�1 draws at the end of reg­u­la­tion time. But while W Con­nec­tion was able to stay calm dur­ing its bat­tle with the "Teteron Boys," Stars' Mar­cus Gomez was not so for­tu­nate as he was is­sued a red card by ref­er­ee Rod­phin Har­ris and will watch tonight's con­test from the stands.

So far this sea­son, Stars and W Con­nec­tion have met four times with the San­gre Grande-based Stars en­joy­ing the edge in league play with 2�0 wins in the sec­ond and third round af­ter a 0�0 draw in round one.How­ev­er, W Con­nec­tion will be in a more con­fi­dent mood hav­ing won its last meet­ing 4�3 on penal­ty-kicks af­ter a 0�0 draw to lift the Lu­cozade Sports Goal Shield ti­tle, which no doubt left a bit­ter taste in its ri­val's mouth.And with tonight's match, which brings a close to the 2012/2013 sea­son, both clubs are ex­pect­ed to give it their all to end on a high. Speak­ing fol­low­ing his team's team fi­nal train­ing ses­sion yes­ter­day, Eve was quick to point out as a play­er or coach it was al­ways a good feel­ing to make it in­to the fi­nal of a com­pe­ti­tion and this one was spe­cial be­ing the first time the club had made it to this point.

He added, "The guys are all fo­cused on the task at hand be­cause we know it's not go­ing to be an easy match against W Con­nec­tion."We will be with­out the ser­vices of Mar­cus Gomez for this match, but strik­er Cor­nell Glen re­turned from in­jury for the semi­fi­nal match and he is ready to go for the fi­nal."Com­ment­ing on his first sea­son in charge of the club, Eve, a for­mer as­sis­tant coach at Ma Pau as well, said he be­lieved he had done a good job."We have reached the fi­nals of three tour­na­ment, win­ning one (Toy­ota Clas­sic), reached the semi­fi­nal of the TTFF FA com­pe­ti­tion and placed fifth in the league, so I think we can pat our­selves on the back for a good sea­son. And win­ning the Pro Bowl will be the ic­ing on the cake," he end­ed.

Charles-Fevri­er, who was re­luc­tant to give a pre­dic­tion of the out­come, said he be­lieved the team that made the least mis­takes would come out on top.""It's a fi­nal and the re­sult can go ei­ther way. Both teams have been play­ing well for the last cou­ple of months and we both end­ed the Pro League with the same num­ber of points, and us ahead of goal dif­fer­ence so we are even­ly matched," said the St Lu­cian-born coach.The win­ner's cheque is ex­pect­ed to be close to $110,000 as the ini­tial fig­ure of $100,000 will be in­creased by a per­cent­age of the gate re­ceipts of the com­pe­ti­tion.There are al­so in­di­vid­ual awards for the Top Scor­er, Most Valu­able Play­er and Most Out­stand­ing Coach of $2,000, $2,000 and $3,000, re­spec­tive­ly.
