The To­ba­go House of As­sem­bly (THA) has adopt­ed the Com­pre­hen­sive Eco­nom­ic De­vel­op­ment Plan for To­ba­go 2013 to 2017 pre­pared by Kairi Con­sul­tants Ltd.Chief Sec­re­tary Orville Lon­don pre­sent­ed a mo­tion on the Plan on Thurs­day. The THA was al­so asked to for­mal­ly recog­nise the far-reach­ing and in­clu­sive dis­cus­sions with stake­hold­ers through­out To­ba­go in the de­vel­op­ment of the Plan and to man­date that all ap­pro­pri­ate steps be tak­en to fa­cil­i­tate ful­fil­ment of its ob­jec­tives for the sus­tain­able de­vel­op­ment of To­ba­go.

In ask­ing the THA to ac­cept the mo­tion, Lon­don said gov­ern­ments have a re­spon­si­bil­i­ty to plan and im­ple­ment in a man­ner that will en­sure that the re­sources of the coun­try can be har­nessed and max­imised for the ben­e­fit of the peo­ple.Lon­don said To­ba­go was in a much bet­ter po­si­tion in 2013 than in 2006 and the eco­nom­ic de­vel­op­ment plan had gone to the THA af­ter con­sul­ta­tion and eval­u­a­tion and fur­ther eval­u­a­tion.
