"Parang Fever is in the air. Parang Fi­es­ta & Af­ter­work Lime promis­es to have more than 800 in at­ten­dance," said Ju­lian Wilkins, pres­i­dent of the Ro­tary Club of Mara­cas/St Joseph.

This event will take place on No­vem­ber 22, from 6 pm–10 pm at An­gos­tu­ra House, East­ern Main Road, Laven­tille.

Wilkins not­ed, "We have had a great re­sponse from pa­trons for this event, who are look­ing for­ward to per­for­mances by pop­u­lar parang groups of Carib San­ta Rosa and Al­ma Caribena. These two parang groups will treat pa­trons to the melo­di­ous parang songs ac­com­pa­nied by their cu­a­tro and mara­cas, along with vi­o­lin, gui­tar, claves (lo­cal­ly known as toc-toc), box bass, tam­bourine, man­dolin, ban­dol, and ca­ja."

The guest per­former will be ca­lyp­son­ian Baron. This year marks Baron's 42nd an­niver­sary on stage and he is ex­pect­ed to mes­merise pa­trons with his pop­u­lar parang so­ca hits like Span­ish Woman and It's Christ­mas.

Nir­mala Ma­haraj, the club's pub­lic re­la­tions di­rec­tor, said, "In the am­biance of An­gos­tu­ra House, pa­trons will be treat­ed to de­li­cious dish­es of ham and hops, ham and turkey, pas­tels, dou­bles, corn soup, fruit cake, rum punch, sor­rel, gin­ger beer and lots more."

Pro­ceeds from this event will go to­wards the an­nu­al char­i­ty projects of the Ro­tary Club of Mara­cas/St Joseph such as Meals on Wheels (which caters meals for 75 el­der­ly peo­ple each week), ed­u­ca­tion­al needs, wheel­chairs and med­ical care.
