TSTT, thanks to shooting duo Sophia Harper and Cherise Carmichael, put an end to Police's win streak in the Alternative Division of the Courts All Sectors Netball League, edging them by one goal, 36-35. This was on Thursday evening at the Eastern Regional Indoor Sports Arena in Tacarigua. Police was coming off two victories earlier this week against University of Southern Caribbean (USC), 45-44, and College of Science, Technology and Applied Arts of T&T (Costaatt), 46-18. However, the effort of goal-attack Carmichael, who led with 19 goals off 28 attempts and Harper, the goal-shooter, 17 from 23, put an end to the police officers reign. Play was intense from the first pass with a number of lead changes throughout the match.
Police, with its reliable shooter Giselle Norton-Richards in action, held the advantage at the end of the first quarter. The score was tied at 19 at the half. And in the third period, TSTT grabbed the lead, 29-27. With the lead, the "Telephone Girls" guarded in the fourth session, managing to hold off Police by one goal. Norton-Richards ended with a match-high 26 from 38. Her teammate goal-attack Tracey Regis (9/9) shot with 100 per cent accuracy but they were still unsuccessful. It was a similar scoreline in the second match as the University of T&T (UTT) completed a narrow 28-27 win over Costaatt. Goal-attack Sharon Phillip starred for the winner, connecting 22 off 29 while Victoria St Louis, the goal-attack, was best for Costaatt, missing only tries, to score 16.
