The stray cattle plaguing the Icacos community for several years has not only affected farmers but the wider community. I am a teacher and concerned parent residing in Icacos and have been affected by these stray cows for some time now. The animals tend to drift away from the estates and gather at the roadsides from late afternoon, making it very unsafe for motorists and pedestrians alike.
It must be remembered that a cow, unlike a dog, will not get out of the way at the sound of a car horn. Cows are large and hard to move and also pose a danger to children walking home from school. Cows have even entered the schoolyard and left their mess where children play. I am relieved that the Ministry of Food Production is attempting to solve the problem.
