The stray cat­tle plagu­ing the Ica­cos com­mu­ni­ty for sev­er­al years has not on­ly af­fect­ed farm­ers but the wider com­mu­ni­ty. I am a teacher and con­cerned par­ent re­sid­ing in Ica­cos and have been af­fect­ed by these stray cows for some time now. The an­i­mals tend to drift away from the es­tates and gath­er at the road­sides from late af­ter­noon, mak­ing it very un­safe for mo­torists and pedes­tri­ans alike.

It must be re­mem­bered that a cow, un­like a dog, will not get out of the way at the sound of a car horn. Cows are large and hard to move and al­so pose a dan­ger to chil­dren walk­ing home from school. Cows have even en­tered the school­yard and left their mess where chil­dren play. I am re­lieved that the Min­istry of Food Pro­duc­tion is at­tempt­ing to solve the prob­lem.
