Broth­ers Joshua (2829) and Abra­ham McLeod (2330) of At­lantis Aquat­ics took top points in the Boys 18-and-over Di­vi­sion at the Am­a­teur Swim­ming As­so­ci­a­tion of T&T's (ASATT) first meet for 2012, held at the Mar­lins Swim­ming Pool, West­moor­ings, on Sun­day. The Uni­ver­si­ty of T&T's (UTT) Kim­ber­ly Joseph topped the Girls 18-and-over Di­vi­sion, with school-mate Rochelle Pierre tak­ing sec­ond, ac­cu­mu­lat­ing a point to­tal of 2093 and 1852, re­spec­tive­ly. The swim­mers com­pet­ed in a pen­tathlon event (five race se­ries), the first in a se­ries of Long Course Events (50 m), which gives the ath­letes the op­por­tu­ni­ty to qual­i­fy for up­com­ing re­gion­al meets such as Carif­ta Swim­ming, Caribbean Is­lands Swim­ming Cham­pi­onships (CISC) and the Good­will Games, as well as the Lon­don 2012 Olympics. Some of the coun­try's top youth par­tic­i­pat­ed, in­clud­ing the McLeod broth­ers, Joshua Ro­many and Dy­lan Carter. The event will be fol­lowed by the Na­tion­al Age Group Long Course Cham­pi­onships from March 7-11 and the Na­tion­al Open Long Course Cham­pi­onship, where swim­mers hop­ing to qual­i­fy for the Olympics are ex­pect­ed to par­tic­i­pate.
