Lethal forward Rhonda John-Davis was the difference between both sides when she helped Police Sports Club edge Defence Force 80-78, to take the MACKESON Super 10 Basketball League (SBL) Women's Big-Four semifinal series 2-0, and an historic first appearance in the final, when the two teams battled at the Jean Pierre Complex, Mucurapo, on Thursday night. John-Davis outscored all scorers on the day with 31 points, a total which she seems to attain on a match-by-match basis for Police. Defence Force, started stronger, however, and it held a 18-12 lead going into the first break. They maintained its advantage by 35-31 going into the half-time break, and controlled the third to leave the court with a hefty 59-50 lead. It was justifiably impossible to write Police off, as what was witnessed time-and-time again throughout the season occurred again on the night. Police went on to dominate the final period, and with John-Davis in control, the "Policewomen" outscored its opponents 30-19, which was enough to just scrape a win and to book a place in its second title match of the season. For Police, which has already taken the knockout title this season, Kielle Connelly bagged 22 points, while Lesie-Ann Bacquain chipped in with 18. Crystal-Ann George had a very good match for Defence Force with 27 points and 11 rebounds, and she was supported by centre Alicia Liverpool who took 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Sherine James scored 12.
