Police emerged champion of the Alternative Division Fastnet competition in the Courts All Sectors Netball League on Sunday at the Eastern Regional Indoor Sports Arena in Tacarigua. The police officers met TSTT in the final and came away with a hard-fought 17-14 victory. Police reached the final by putting down Prisons, also by a three-goal (20-17) margin in the semifinal round. In the other semifinal match, TSTT made light work of Costaatt, beating them 16-5. Shooting for Police were Giselle Norton-Richards and Tracey Regis in the newest variation of the game which features shortened matches and goals worth multiple points.
In the earlier rounds, Police first got by T&T Hospitality and Tourism Institute (TTHTI) with ease, 35-5, then stopped eventual finalist TSTT, 18-13. TSTT's other win on the day came over TTHTI, whipping them, 32-0. This evening, teams will compete for top honours in the Courts Open knockout competition. On Thursday, teams in the Championship Division will engage in their Fastnet competition.
