St Andrews Corporate Team's Robert Alleyne and Rasheed Ali gathered 48 points to win the St Andrews Golf Club's 16th Annual Corporate Tournament in Moka, Maraval on Saturday. The pair, who scored 24 points on both the back and front nines, finished just ahead of First Citizens Sports Foundation's Keith Clifford and Michael Commissiong (47) and Scotia Bank T&T Limited's Gisele Marfleet & Chris Galt (45) to secure the title. "There were some fantastic golfers in this tournament so it was always going to be very tough," said Alleyne after collecting his trophy.
"We were disciplined, but we also had a lot of fun out there and I think that was the key." Also earning recognition was Quantum/Business Boosters' Renee Ayoung, whose Hole in One on the fifth hole won her a standing ovation during the prize giving ceremony. Ayoung and her partner Brenda Clarke placed 13th overall. The charitable tournament was contested among a field of two-member corporate teams who raised a total of $25,000 to go towards the Tallman Foundation's arts programme, which stages workshops for young people in the East Port-of-Spain area. The Foundation's director Michelle Ayoung-Chee thanked the representatives for showing a commitment to a good cause.
