A po­lice ex­er­cise in San Juan yes­ter­day re­sult­ed in the re­cov­ery of two stolen cars and more than six ki­los of mar­i­jua­na dur­ing two sep­a­rate search­es. Of­fi­cers of the North East­ern Di­vi­sion Task Force, led by Cpl Sunil Bharath found the cars while search­ing a house on Mur­ray Road.

A Toy­ota Corol­la, which was stolen from its own­er at gun­point in Curepe, and a Nis­san B13, which was stolen at Grand Bazaar, Val­sayn, were re­cov­ered. Both rob­beries oc­curred on Mon­day af­ter­noon. Two res­i­dents of the house were ar­rest­ed. Both men were said to be known to po­lice. The sus­pects will be placed on an iden­ti­fi­ca­tion pa­rade in con­nec­tion with the rob­beries lat­er to­day.

In the oth­er mat­ter, a 37-year-old man will ap­pear be­fore a Port-of-Spain mag­is­trate charged with traf­fick­ing in mar­i­jua­na. The sus­pect was ar­rest­ed at his home on Up­per Sev­enth Av­enue, Mal­ick, Barataria, by the law­men yes­ter­day. The mar­i­jua­na, which had a street val­ue of more than $60,000 was found hid­den in the man's liv­ing room.

He was ar­rest­ed and tak­en to the Mor­vant Po­lice Sta­tion where he was charged. Al­so in­volved in the ex­er­cise were PCs Trevor Ram­baran, Clint Dass and Mar­vin Forde.
