A police exercise in San Juan yesterday resulted in the recovery of two stolen cars and more than six kilos of marijuana during two separate searches. Officers of the North Eastern Division Task Force, led by Cpl Sunil Bharath found the cars while searching a house on Murray Road.
A Toyota Corolla, which was stolen from its owner at gunpoint in Curepe, and a Nissan B13, which was stolen at Grand Bazaar, Valsayn, were recovered. Both robberies occurred on Monday afternoon. Two residents of the house were arrested. Both men were said to be known to police. The suspects will be placed on an identification parade in connection with the robberies later today.
In the other matter, a 37-year-old man will appear before a Port-of-Spain magistrate charged with trafficking in marijuana. The suspect was arrested at his home on Upper Seventh Avenue, Malick, Barataria, by the lawmen yesterday. The marijuana, which had a street value of more than $60,000 was found hidden in the man's living room.
He was arrested and taken to the Morvant Police Station where he was charged. Also involved in the exercise were PCs Trevor Rambaran, Clint Dass and Marvin Forde.
