The rain held up well and allowed the 2012 domestic T20 tournament to get off at Guaracara Park in Pointe-a-Pierre last evening. Lumar Esmeralda boasting the likes of Mervyn Dillon, Shazan Babwah and Imran Jan proved too much for the youthful Wanderers outfit in the end moving away with a nine-wicket victory. Batting first on winning the toss, Wanderers first innings score of 107 for six was never going to trouble the experienced Esmeralda team. Rain during the break made it even more difficult and a target off 96 off 17 overs was the score that Esmeralda were going after. Guyanese Anthony Bramble came out firing and in the end slammed an unbeaten 62 to lead his team to their eventual victory.
He was very hard on anything off line or length and raced to an unbeaten 61 off 36 balls with six fours and two sixes. Kevon Edwards his fellow opener was also in good form and together with Bramble, they batted well in posting 73 for the first wicket. Edwards fell for 17 but Teshawn Castro with an unbeaten 12 stayed to the end with Bramble, in bring home the win. Earlier, it was the bowling of Castro 2/17 and Shazan Babwah 2/6 who undermined the Wanderers batting as they found runs hard to come by. Guyanese batsman Kemraj Deosaran got a workmanlike 21 and Anthony Adams scored a 22-ball 24 but it was not enough. Bramble for his efforts was named man of the match as he also pocked two catches. The tournament continued last night with defending champions Queen's Park taking on SIS Central Sports.
