The rain held up well and al­lowed the 2012 do­mes­tic T20 tour­na­ment to get off at Guaracara Park in Pointe-a-Pierre last evening. Lumar Es­mer­al­da boast­ing the likes of Mervyn Dil­lon, Shaz­an Bab­wah and Im­ran Jan proved too much for the youth­ful Wan­der­ers out­fit in the end mov­ing away with a nine-wick­et vic­to­ry. Bat­ting first on win­ning the toss, Wan­der­ers first in­nings score of 107 for six was nev­er go­ing to trou­ble the ex­pe­ri­enced Es­mer­al­da team. Rain dur­ing the break made it even more dif­fi­cult and a tar­get off 96 off 17 overs was the score that Es­mer­al­da were go­ing af­ter. Guyanese An­tho­ny Bram­ble came out fir­ing and in the end slammed an un­beat­en 62 to lead his team to their even­tu­al vic­to­ry.

He was very hard on any­thing off line or length and raced to an un­beat­en 61 off 36 balls with six fours and two six­es. Kevon Ed­wards his fel­low open­er was al­so in good form and to­geth­er with Bram­ble, they bat­ted well in post­ing 73 for the first wick­et. Ed­wards fell for 17 but Teshawn Cas­tro with an un­beat­en 12 stayed to the end with Bram­ble, in bring home the win. Ear­li­er, it was the bowl­ing of Cas­tro 2/17 and Shaz­an Bab­wah 2/6 who un­der­mined the Wan­der­ers bat­ting as they found runs hard to come by. Guyanese bats­man Kem­raj De­osaran got a work­man­like 21 and An­tho­ny Adams scored a 22-ball 24 but it was not enough. Bram­ble for his ef­forts was named man of the match as he al­so pocked two catch­es. The tour­na­ment con­tin­ued last night with de­fend­ing cham­pi­ons Queen's Park tak­ing on SIS Cen­tral Sports.
