"Fly the 5,000 flags with pride." Chief operating officer of the ANSA?McAL Group of Companies Gerry?Brooks offered this advice to employees. He made this comment while delivering remarks at the ceremonial sealing of the ANSA McAL time capsule at Tatil Building,?Maraval Road, Port-of-Spain, on Saturday.
Brooks lauded group chairman A Norman Sabga, sector head-media and services David Inglefield, managing director of Tatil Musa Ibrahim and corporate communications team leader Sharon?Balroop for their support and execution of the idea.
The theme was Boundless Faith.
He said: "Every company, every employee must recognise and celebrate T&T's golden anniversary. Let it be a catalyst for further nation-building. Let us build on our legacy and create a more powerful tomorrow. Use this anniversary to create the link between past and future. And so the idea of the time capsule was born. "The simple intent being the reigniting of national fervour. Our patriotic spirit makes everything possible."
Kudos to T&T?icons
Seizing the opportunity, Brooks paid kudos to Olympic medallist Keshorn Walcott and T&T?icons. He said:?"Here we sit today in reasonable prosperity in no small measure due to the significant vision, pioneering spirit, sacrifice and effort of many of our contributors. We thank them for their powerful life's work." Among the fields he identified were law, entertainment, sport, politics, academia, business and scholarship.
Among those present were television presenter Holly Betaudier, radio presenter Hans Hanoomansingh, sailors Harold and Kwailan La Borde, sports commentator Alvin Corneal. Stefan Jerome Poon Ying sang the National Anthem. He also extended Eid Mubarak to the Muslim community.
